TFKO congratulates Mike Nash on his amazing accomplishment! (18 October 2011) TFKO congratulates one of its founding director, Mike Nash, on setting a new record at 45.95 km for the hour (the previous record was a speed of 40.711 km set on September 28th, 1998).

Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day! (24 September 2011) Trips for Kids Ottawa with the support of volunteers from the Ottawa Mountain Biking Association and local sponsors delivered another great day this year to celebrate the International Mountain Bike Association seventh annual International Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day.

The 24 Hours Hot August Nights – A Fantastic Adventure (24 August 2011) Happy, fulfilled and tired, this is how the 7 members of “We du Team” felt on their way back from the 24 Hours Hot August Nights event near Toronto.

North American Epic Bike Tour of “Tour d’Afrique” (1 August 2011) On August 1st, Tour d’Afrique riders visited the Trips for Kids Ottawa Garage, before riding the beautiful Ottawa River pathway to downtown where they stayed for a day of rest before continuing on their epic journey. While at the Garage, riders presented Cat Weaver, Trips for Kids Ottawa Program Director with a generous donation of over $700 that will go a long way in ensuring the program bikes are in good shape and available for more kids to ride.

Exciting news (21 June 2011) Chico Racing will waive fees for the 24 hour Hot August Nights event for “We du Team”.

7th Annual Eastern Ontario High School/Elementary School Mountain Bike Event (20 May 2011) Once again the annual Eastern Ontario High School Mountain Bike Championship Event was a great success. The Event, where 77 participants for 16 different elementary and high schools met, was hosted by the South Grenville District High School. It was set up for beginners to the sport but was also challenging for experienced riders. Twenty-two kids under the banner of Trips for Kids Ottawa had a chance to participate.

New riders! (11 May 2011) Ten “new-to-Canada” youths originating from the Congo, Haiti, Burundi, Angola, and South Africa had their first ever mountain biking ride last Wednesday in preparation for their participation to the Eastern Ontario High School Mountain Bike Championship on 20 May 2011.

Mountain Biking Season is officially here! (7 May 2011) Eight advanced riders led by Program Director Cat Weaver and ride volunteer Brian Garson were able to check the trails out at Kanata’s South March Highlands for the first time this year.
