• Trips for Kids Ottawa's mission is to enrich the lives of economically disadvantaged, new-to-Canada youth, through outdoor activities to develop physical skills, gain environmental knowledge, form positive relationships and provide leadership opportunities.

TFKO offers After-School Ride Programs, Advanced Rides, Bike Mechanic courses, and other special events. Please come ready to ride with a signed waiver-2016 and registration and contact information form. You will need to bring: closed-toed shoes, comfortable clothing, water, a sense of adventure, and a smile! TFKO will provide: a Ride Leader, bikes and helmets, if necessary, and water bottles. Please contact us for more information.

After School Programs

After-school bike programs start as soon as the trails are open in the spring and continue until the end of the school year, then resume in September and run through to November.  Kids are grouped based on age and skill level. No prior experience is required. We currently run programs at Bell High School, Ecole Secondaire Franco-Ouest, and D.A. Moodie Middle school.  New this year, we began offering snow-shoe outings during the winter. Starting in September 2017, we will be offering a program based at the Carembeck Community Centre in Carleton Place.

Advanced Rides

Rides are offered on Saturdays for the skilled and advanced riders. This is a more advanced mountain biking session for technical riders who are ready to maneuver up and down large rocks, through tight spots in the trails, and can handle the bumps of a rock garden.

Please contact us for more information.

Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day

Each Fall TFKO partners with the Ottawa Mountain Bike Association (OMBA) to host a kids ride to celebrate the annual event Take a Kid Mountain-Biking Day. The event has been increasing in size and popularity every year which is a testimony to the efforts and success of TFKO. Information about the next event will be posted on our Facebook page in September.

Try a Mountain Bike Ride

TFKO offers opportunities to try mountain biking for small groups that incorporate cycling skills, trail etiquette, and leadership opportunities in a fun, supportive and active atmosphere. These rides are focusing solely on children and youths who never had the opportunity to experience mountain biking. Rides can be booked by contacting our Program Director.
