TFKO’s skating program exploded this year! We grew from two outings per week, to five very well-attended weekly outings – including both lunch-time and after-school skates on Wednesdays. Most participants had never skated before, but experienced remarkable success following TFKO’s tried and true “Learn to Skate” methodology. Our students quickly gained skills and self-assurance, confidently gliding around the outdoor rink with big smiles! Even the days with very cold temperatures could not hold us back from enjoying our time on skates.
Each skater is fitted for their own pair of skates, a helmet, and gloves. At the end of each session, skate blades are wiped down and everything is returned to each student’s individual labelled bag. Volunteers make sure to take out any items from bags that have been flagged as containing wet clothing, so that everything is dry and ready for next time.
